Each course comprises modules prepared by the Sustainable Development Academy or the professor, along with assignments, lectures, presentations, and discussions. In 10-credit courses, students meet eight times, while in five-credit classes, they meet four times throughout the semester. A total of 24 two-hour meetings, one per week, are scheduled. Additionally, there is a mandatory intensive face-to-face cycle held in Maribor, which includes practical laboratory exercises, seminars, and exams. Students also have the opportunity to engage in a practical internship within their local area. The academic year's lesson schedule is provided at the beginning of the program. To ensure flexibility, in-class lectures are live-streamed and recorded for students' convenience.

Does an Alma Mater student get health insurance, meal discount and visa?

As a student at Alma Mater, you possess legal status under Slovenian law, granting you eligibility for an EU visa, health insurance, and meal vouchers in Slovenia in accordance with national regulations. What happens if I do not take all the exams required by the study plan?

To progress to the second year, each student must successfully acquire a minimum of 60 credits in the first year. If needed, the university may arrange additional exam sessions upon the student's request and at an additional cost. In cases where a student is unable to accumulate the required credits, options such as requesting an extension or taking a sabbatical year are available. During a sabbatical year, the student can take the missing exams to fulfill the credit requirements.

Why are the study groups small?

Lectures and discussions at Alma Mater are conducted in small groups, ensuring an intimate learning environment with fewer than 40 students. This setup fosters enhanced communication, stronger connections among participants, and facilitates meaningful interactions with professors. Sessions are typically scheduled on Fridays, running from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. CET. During the in-person sessions in mid-March, lectures and activities are conducted throughout the day. Is it necessary to pass an admission test to become a student?

No, there is no admission test required for enrollment. However, it is highly recommended to secure your spot by enrolling as early as possible, as there is a maximum number of students allotted for each academic year. The university evaluates your application and curriculum vitae (CV) as part of the admission process.

By doing so, you are not committing to enroll in the program; rather, the form serves as a means for us to gather information about you as a candidate. Is it possible to request the recognition of credits and have some exams validated?

Yes, it is possible to request credit recognition for coursework completed at other institutions. When filling out the form, please provide detailed information about the credits obtained from the previous institution. It's important to note that there is a fee of EUR 1000 associated with the credit recognition procedure.

What are the program enrollment requirements?

To be eligible for enrollment in the MA in Sustainable Development, students must have successfully completed a minimum of a three-year undergraduate program. It is important to note that the number of available spots for admission is limited, and only a select number of students will be accepted into the program.

What is the cost of the entire program?

The annual tuition fee for the program is EUR 8,600, covering two semesters. However, if you have completed a four-year undergraduate program and are eligible for early graduation at Alma Mater Europaea due to the credits earned from your undergraduate coursework, a potential cost reduction may be available. The tuition fee encompasses all courses, study materials, and access to an e-classroom featuring recorded videos of all lectures.

Can I pay in installments?

Upon enrollment, a payment of EUR 2,000 is required. The remaining balance can be paid in equal installments over a period of five or eight installments. Please note that if you opt for the installment plan, an administration fee of EUR 20 will be added to each payment.

Can I apply for a scholarship?

Applicants have the opportunity to apply for the scholarship offered by the Academicus Foundation.

The foundation's fund provides scholarships for a three-year study period, totaling up to EUR 6,000 (EUR 2,000 per year). These scholarships are specifically designed to support successful and talented students, as well as those facing financial challenges. Interested individuals can submit their scholarship application using this form. 

It is important to note that applying for the scholarship does not require candidates to enroll or commit to any obligations. Within 10 days following the application deadline, applicants will be notified of the approved scholarship amount.

In addition to the university fee, what other costs must the student cover?

In addition to the university fee, students are required to pay an admission fee of €100.00 for each year of study. There is also a one-time fee of €50.00 for the issuance of the booklet of notions and skills.

Is it possible to pay the tuition fee and other contributions in cash at the Alma Mater Student Office?

Unfortunately, cash payments at the Alma Mater Student Office are not accepted.

Can a legal entity pay the tuition fee for me?
